Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

The Journal of Economics and Management Advances (JEMA) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing. To ensure the quality, originality, and relevance of all submissions, the journal employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, without regard to the identity, affiliation, or personal characteristics of the authors.

Submission and Initial Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JEMA undergo an initial editorial assessment to verify their alignment with the journal’s scope, adherence to formatting guidelines, and compliance with ethical standards. Submissions that fail to meet these criteria may be returned to the authors without further review. Manuscripts passing this stage are forwarded for external peer evaluation.

Peer Review Process
Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts with relevant disciplinary expertise. Reviewers are selected based on their knowledge, scholarly experience, and ability to provide impartial, constructive feedback. JEMA adheres to a double-blind review policy, whereby the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the process.

Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers assess manuscripts according to the following criteria:

  • Originality and significance: the contribution to knowledge and relevance to the field of economics, management, and administrative sciences.

  • Methodological rigor: appropriateness and clarity of research methods, analytical procedures, and interpretation of results.

  • Presentation and clarity: logical structure, coherence, and readability.

  • Scope relevance: alignment with the journal’s objectives and readership.

  • Ethical compliance: adherence to accepted research and publication ethics, including proper citation, originality, and disclosure of potential conflicts of interest.

Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors make one of the following decisions: accept without revision, accept with minor revisions, request major revisions, or reject. Authors are provided with reviewer comments and guidance to improve the manuscript. Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated to ensure adherence to reviewer and editorial recommendations.

Ethical Standards
JEMA adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All submissions must be original, properly referenced, and free from plagiarism. Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

Timelines
The journal aims to provide an initial editorial decision within six to eight weeks of submission. The final decision, following peer review and any necessary revisions, is communicated promptly to the authors.

Confidentiality
All information pertaining to manuscripts under review is treated as strictly confidential. Reviewers, editors, and staff are prohibited from disclosing or using such information for personal or professional gain.

Appeals
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written request to the Editor-in-Chief. Appeals are considered when there is evidence of procedural errors or misjudgment during the review process.
