Author Guidelines

ARTICLE FORMATTING GUIDELINES 

Language of the article:
Articles are accepted in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian.

Scope:
Submitted articles must correspond to the thematic scope of the journal.

Submission format:
The article should be submitted to the journal’s editorial office in one printed copy (A4 format) and in electronic form. The printed version must be properly formatted and signed.

Length:
The total length of the article, including references, must be 5–8 pages. Articles exceeding 8 pages are accepted only with the approval of the Editorial Board. The text must be grammatically correct and carefully proofread.

Review process:
Articles submitted for publication are first checked for plagiarism and then sent to two reviewers. Based on the reviewers’ evaluations, the Editorial Board makes a decision regarding acceptance and publication.

Editorial decision:
An article that fully meets the journal’s requirements is accepted by the Editorial Board, and a decision on publication is made accordingly.

Structure:
The structure of the article must comply with internationally accepted standards for scientific publications.

Design-related fields covered by the journal:

  • Environmental Design

  • Fashion Design

  • Communication Design

  • Industrial Design

  • Design and Contemporary Art

  • Digital Media Design

Author information:
The submitted article must include the author’s:

  • First name, last name, patronymic

  • Academic degree and title (if any)

  • Affiliation and institutional address

  • E-mail address and contact phone number

Title:
The title should be concise and action-oriented.

Keywords and classification:
Keywords and the UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) index must be provided in three languages (Azerbaijani, English, and Russian).

Multilingual abstracts/titles:

  • Articles submitted in Azerbaijani must include equivalent titles/abstracts in English and Russian at the beginning.

  • Articles submitted in English must include equivalent titles/abstracts in Azerbaijani and Russian at the beginning.

  • Articles submitted in Russian must include equivalent titles/abstracts in Azerbaijani and English at the beginning.

References:
The article must include in-text citations and a list of references.

Technical formatting requirements:

  • Text must be prepared in Microsoft Word

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Font size: 12 pt

  • Line spacing: 1.5

  • Margins:

    • Left: 3 cm

    • Right: 2 cm

    • Top and bottom: 3 cm

  • First-line indent: 1.5 cm

Figures and tables:

  • Figure captions: 11 pt

  • Table text: 11 pt

  • Leave one blank line before and after headings, subheadings, tables, and figures

  • Pages must be numbered at the bottom center

  • Tables and figures must have titles and be numbered consecutively

  • Table titles should be placed above the table and centered

  • Figure titles should be placed below the figure and centered

  • Titles of tables and figures must be written in bold, with only the first letters capitalized

  • Row and column headings in tables should be concise; units of measurement must be indicated in parentheses

Cover letter:
A cover page must state that the manuscript has not been previously published in any scientific journal and must specify the field of science to which the article belongs.

Submission Preparation Checklist

 

Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure that the following requirements have been met:

  • The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • The article is relevant to the scientific scope and thematic areas of the journal (design-related fields).
  • The total length of the manuscript, including references, is 5–8 pages.
  • The manuscript is structured in accordance with international academic standards (title, abstract, keywords, main text, conclusion, references).
  • An Abstract should be provided (150 to 250 words), with author names and Affiliation.
  •  
  • The title, abstract, keywords, and UDC index are provided in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian.
  • All authors should provide their ORCID ID ( https://orcid.org/register)
  •  
  • Complete and accurate author information is provided (full name, academic degree, affiliation, institutional address, e-mail, and contact phone number).
  • All sources cited in the text are properly referenced, and a reference list is included.
  • The manuscript complies with plagiarism and originality requirements.
  • The text is prepared in Microsoft Word, using Times New Roman, 12 pt font size, 1.5 line spacing, and follows the journal’s formatting guidelines.
  • All figures and tables are properly numbered and include appropriate titles.
  • A cover letter confirming that the manuscript has not been previously published and indicating the relevant field of science has been submitted.

Articles

 

The “Articles” section covers scholarly articles, innovative approaches, and applied research addressing current issues in design. All manuscripts are peer-reviewed in accordance with international academic publishing standards.

Copyright Notice

Authors of articles published in the UNEC Journal of Current Problems in Design agree to the following terms:

  • Authors retain copyright to their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. The article is simultaneously published under the Creative Commons CC BY license, allowing others to share the work with proper acknowledgment of the authors and its initial publication in the journal.
  • Authors may enter into separate, additional agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of their work (for example, posting it in an institutional repository or including it in a book), provided that the initial publication in the journal is acknowledged.

  • Authors are permitted and encouraged to share their work online (for example, in institutional repositories or on personal websites) before or during the submission process, as this can promote academic discussion, visibility, and increase citations of the published work.

Privacy Statement

 UNEC Journal of Current Problems in Design collects and uses personal information that is necessary for the submission, processing, and publication of manuscripts. This information may include authors’ names, institutional affiliations, and contact details such as postal addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers. All personal data provided to UJCPD will be used solely for the purpose of managing the peer review process, editorial decisions, and publication of the manuscript, and will not be shared with third parties except as required for the publication process.
