The rapid advancement of digital technologies and the widespread adoption of the internet have transformed traditional business models through e-commerce, opening new economic opportunities for both consumers and companies. This article explores the fundamental concepts of e-commerce, its development stages, advantages compared to traditional commerce, and its significance in the modern era. Furthermore, various types and models of e-commerce (B2B, B2C, C2C, etc.), as well as their impacts on logistics systems and market competition, are analyzed in depth.
At a global level, e-commerce has stimulated cross-border trade, facilitating access to international markets, expanding the consumer base, and intensifying price competition. The growing popularity of e-commerce platforms has significantly increased the volume of online transactions worldwide. Giants such as Amazon, Alibaba, and eBay occupy leading positions in the global e-commerce market. In addition, critical aspects of e-commerce, including digital payment mechanisms, data security, and cybersecurity, are examined. Moreover, the article emphasizes how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have leveraged e-commerce to access broader markets and how this sector has evolved in terms of its role in the economy.
